Your School Day

Your school day starts at 5:30 am with a wake up call and first prep lasts from 6 am to 7 am.  We provide breakfast from 7 am to 7:55 am, followed by the start of the first academic period at 8 am.  Each period lasts 40 minutes with classes lasting for one period or two periods or three periods.  Our academic day begins at 8 am and ends at 4 pm.  We have four periods from 8:00 am to 10:40 am and a break from 10:40 am to 10:55 am.  Periods five and six last from 11 am to 12:20 pm, which is followed by lunch break from 12:20 pm to 1:55 pm.  Students are free to do what they want after eating lunch and many take the opportunity to socialize in their dorms, in classrooms, or in the shaded outdoor seating areas.  After lunch our periods seven, eight, and nine lasts from 2 pm to 4 pm.  The academic day ends at 4 pm.

Students can relax after 4 pm, but are required to participate in sports activities such as basketball, volleyball, football, frisbee and other seasonal sports.  Sports activities take place from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, followed by ‘cleanup’ period, so students can change from their sports attire into uniforms, and prepare for evening studies.  From 6 pm to 7 pm we have second prep, where students complete homework, review notes, and prepare for quizzes and exams.  From 7 pm to 7:55 pm students break for dinner followed by the third prep period from 8 pm to 9 pm.  At 9pm students are required to report to their dorms, with lights out and quiet time starting at 10 pm.

On Saturdays and Sundays students have the first prep followed by breakfast.  On Saturdays, student spend time cleaning classrooms, dorms, common areas, and washing their clothes.  On Sundays, students attend church from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.  After lunch students participate in the various clubs and groups or relax doing their favorite activity.  Sports starts up again at 4;30 followed by second prep at 6 pm.  On Fridays and Saturdays students organize dance parties, movie nights, fashion shows and other fun events.  We have many aspiring DJs and fashion designers who make this activity fun.

Although your primary focus will be on academics, we will also develop your creative interests outside of academics.  As a student you will use technology to learn photography, film making, music creation and recording, magazine creation, app development, social media management, fashion design with technology.  We offer structured classes and clubs so that you will have a chance to develop interests outside of the classroom.

Outside of structured class time and study periods, there is an abundance of student-lead activities including, but not limited to Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Debate, Public Speaking, Bright Rwanda, Traditional Dance, Music and Dance, Modelling and Fashion, Choir, Peace and Unity, Maranyundo Charity Team, Environment Club, Peace and Love Proclaimers, Art Club, Anti-Drug and Crime Club, and the Reading and Poetry Club.
